In most other real estate markets, summer is peak season because families want to sell and settle while the kids are out of school.
In San Francisco, we have more dogs than kids, so the school schedule doesn’t drive our market like our weather does. And August is usually a quiet period because everyone goes on vacation, and those of us that are still around are doing all we can to remember that somewhere above all that fog there really is a sun.
Getting ready for broker’s tour today, it is clear that the August duldrums have arrived. District 7 (north end, think Pac Heights/Marina) has eight new properties on tour tomorrow. District 5 (central, think Castro/Noe Valley) has a whopping twelve.
Still, we’ll be out touring. And praying for sun!
