House Shopping While Running Bay to Breakers?

This post is for all you multitaskers out there who might have been running in the 100th Bay to Breakers yesterday morning. If you aren’t familiar with it, the course travels along Howard through SOMA, jogs up to Hayes along 9th, then onto Fell via Divisadero before entering Golden Gate Park.

This year, if you wanted to keep an eye out for houses and homes for sale along the course you would be sadly disappointed, as there are currently only two homes for sale (SF MLS, status: active) along the Bay to Breakers race course.

In the South of Market neighborhood along Howard Street is 1233 Howard #2G, a live/work loft with 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, with approximately 1,369 square feet of living space. It has only been on the market for a few days, and as you can see from the photo it is on the back side of the building, so it doesn’t front directly on Howard (usually a good thing, although not if you want to have a Bay to Breakers viewing party in your living room).

If a SOMA loft isn’t enough to make you stop running, then perhaps a 2 unit building on Divisadero Street is more to your liking? 505 Divisadero is a 3 unit building between Hayes and Fell that has one commercial unit and two residential units. All units are tenant occupied, and the location earns it a WalkScore ranking of 94, and as you can see from the picture below you’d be able to have one heck of a Bay to Breaker’s viewing party from the front room of any of the units.

And that, my dear readers, is it! Only two homes are for sale along the Bay to Breakers 2011 race course. Whether you were a spectator, participant, or just stuck in traffic  yesterday because of the street closures I hope you enjoyed our unique combination of alcohol + athleticism.
